Every month, Bookstonian picks a book we recommend to readers.
This month's pick is Lord of the Flies by William Golding, published by Signet/Penguin Books.
First published in 1954, The Lord of the Flies remains a powerful read today. A group of boys become marooned on an island. Left with no adult supervision, they form their own society. That's when the terror begin as they struggle with the inner forces of sin and evil. This coming of age novel has left an indelible mark in literature and influenced many authors, among them Stephen King, who wrote an introduction to this edition. Lois Lowry wrote the foreword.
Lord of the Flies has been labeled a parable, an allegory, and morality tale all wrapped in this finely crafted coming of age novel.
Through Boz's Book Club, we highlight diverse genres, including classic books, fiction, young adult, children, nonfiction, and biographies.
